1 Chocolate devils food cake mix

2 tsp almond flavoring
1 can cherry pie filling
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup milk
5 Tablespoons of butter
1 cup chocolate chips
Cake:
Beat cake mix and follow the package directions for water and oil and eggs plus and almond flavoring together. Fold in cherry pie filling by hand (to keep cherries whole). Sift lumps out of cake mix and stir in cherry mixture. Bake according to cake box directions or until cooked through; it may need a little more time.
Frosting:
During the last 7 minutes of cake baking, bring to a boil the sugar, milk, and butter. Boil for 1 minute. Then stir in the chocolate chips until melted. Pour over the hot cake when it comes out of the oven.

Grandmom Vallery always makes this with a gluten free chocolate cake mix. It works well GF or not.
